Tippy Canoe and Mildew too!

Our first summer in the Klamath and Crescent City area.

sunny 60 °F

So, last entry was deleted, but I guess, again, I won't look the WiFi gift horse in the mouth right now.

This trip has seemed to culminate in all of my worst trip fears. 14-hour drive. Mildewed bedspread in trailer and concurrent mildew smell throughout the trailer. No hot water for a shower after 14-hour drive. Cold night in strange sheets and blanket. Late start for kayaking in the ocean. Aborted attempt at launching kayak in ocean. Swollen finger from a) clip on shoe snapping back and hitting; and b) carrying two kayaks up and down Pebble Beach Drive and a rocky trail to only abort our launch because of swells coming over the bow and involving my fear of tipping in the ocean, banging my head, and then drowning to become shark bait.

However, I'm now sitting with a Blue Moon, smelling the deliciousness of soon-to-be cooked steak on an open fire and remembering that it's only about 60 deg., the ocean redwoods are beautiful next to the rocky coast, and the mist that hangs in the trees in the morning provide just the right amount of spooky awesomeness.

Hopefully we can eat a good meal and regroup tomorrow. I think it will be a better day.
